Forgotten Hope 2, the Great Crusade

img source news article

The great crusade as the title implies is related to the famous message from president Dwight D. Eisenhower. So it stands to say this title is a big hint towards the next theater of war for Forgotten Hope 2.

SUPREME HEADQUARTERS ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man to man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower
Order of the Day
June 6, 1944

For those of you who are tired of all the dust and continuously brushing of the sand from your uniforms, equipment, vehicles and everything else it can get into. This new theater of war on the western front of Europe might be a welcome change of scenery. Be aware that the machines of war have also become more efficient killing machines as the war progresses. So it might not be a good change, when it concerns your very survival!

Let's hope we can go and drive the Panthers of war very soon. I do have to confess that I haven't been playing FH2 after 2 weeks from the initial release. I just haven't been able to get BF2 (the game the mod runs on) to run properly. It kept crashing my entire pc with a hard soundloop crash only able to recover with a hard reset. This happened about 20 minutes into the game, each and every time (only in mutliplayer). However to get my weekly fix of WW2 fps, I did play FH2's bigger brother Forgotten Hope. Its just to bad that most servers except 2 or 3 populated servers, are gone.

TF2 update, february 19

As always with Valve, if there are problems or there is some small issue with one of their games, they try to release a patch/update ASAP. I just love Valve and their professional attitude towards supporting their games.

Team Fortress Update released

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Team Fortress 2

· Fixed Badlands exploits and missing textures

· Fixed tv_enable resetting maxplayers value

· Fixed a case where a spy stabbing from the front of a player would score a backstab

· Fixed stats being reported incorrectly for some players

· Dropped weapons now replenish half of your max ammo when picked up

· Added exec'ing a cfg\.cfg file on the client when you select a class to play (for real this time!)

· Reverted mp_forcecamera changes from previous release and set TF2 default back to 1

Fixed a case where a spy stabbing from the front of a player would score a backstab?

Well, there goes a lot of my spy kills out the window!!!

Seriously though this will stop some annoyance from wrongly registered backstabs, but also make the spy harder to play once more. Which is good if you ask me, I love a challenge from time to time and the spy class is just that versus a team that is aware. Did I mention I hate pyro's, but also love them, it's all a matter of perspective. Burning stuff and burning are two totally different things where one is fun and the other, well... Not so much...

Ah well, Valve is a top notch company that will dish out update and patch one after the other if something needs fixing.

Audiosurf review, 90/100

Ride your music

Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer where you use your own music to create your own experience. The shape, the speed, and the mood of each ride is determined by the song you choose. You earn points for clustering together blocks of the same color on the highway, and compete with others on the Internet for the highscore on your favorite songs.

source

Tetris? Well it kind of has a Tetris-like feel to it when you look at the block collecting and creating rows, but the similarities end there. The game is quite a fresh and shiny idea and it also comes with the Organge box OST. You know, the gamebox with Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2. The game is bought trough the steam store, the price is a one time $9.95 (excl VAT).

Media:

Trying my best yet I'm not that good =D
The song is from SNES: F-Zero - Big Blue

Verdict:
At a first glance this game looks very basic... But this is also true for some other infamous games that are very addictive. Audiosurf is a game that has an overkill in that department, because the game is never the same with each and every song you use to generate the tracks. Hugely extending it's replay value.

If you want to play the game without much fuss you can load up a slow song and on the other hand if you want to go at it at full speed, you can load up a fast song. The nice thing is this very feature. You play on a race track with your own favorite music and the game calcuates the race tracks plus obstacles based on the song.

90/100 = musthave
especially if you're into highspeed puzzle gaming

Mass Effect PC may 2008

Article mirror Mass Effect PC may 2008

I've been away from consoles for a long time, I do have a Nintendo Wii because it looked like fun (which it is). However this does stop me from playing this game called Mass Effect. Perhaps one of the few reasons for me to buy another specific console.

Mass effect is set to come to the PC on may 2008, with bigger and better graphics it seems judging from the news item. Now let's just hope they also add a ton of features to the game (which is already quite big) that aren't included in the 360 version. Also lets hope those very same features/additions are available to the 360 players trough Xbox LIVE or all hell will break loose...

Mass Effect To Land On Pc In May 2008

Award-Winning Epic Will Be Published By EA

Redwood City, Calif. (February 12, 2008) - Leading video game developer, BioWare™, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) company, has announced that the award-winning space epic Mass Effect™ will be released for the PC in May 2008. Published by EA and re-designed for the PC, Mass Effect invites players to take the role of Commander Shepard as they set out on an adventure to save the galaxy from imminent destruction. Wrought with treachery, heroism, difficult decisions and a universe filled with unique and colorful species, Mass Effect delivers a truly compelling storyline.

Optimized for the PC, Mass Effect for the PC incorporates the following features:

  • Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
  • High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
  • Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
  • Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to 'hot keys' allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
  • New decryption mini-game.
  • New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.
"Mass Effect serves as a powerful example of video games as an art form, delivering new levels of emotional intensity, realistic characters and a gripping storyline – all set in a compelling new universe," said Ray Muzyka, General Manager, BioWare and Vice President, Electronic Arts. Frank Gibeau, President of EA's Games Label added, "EA has struck an agreement with Microsoft to handle future publishing for Mass Effect. We are looking forward to releasing Mass Effect on the PC this Spring and brand new titles in the future." Originally released for the Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system, Mass Effect has received critical acclaim throughout the world with more than 70 awards including Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year and Role-Playing Game of the Year. Mass Effect combines a deep story with intense combat and challenges the player to make difficult decisions that can significantly impact the course of events. An innovative conversation system allows for lifelike interaction with some of the most realistic digital actors, voiced by Hollywood actors such as Seth Green, Marina Sirtis, Lance Henriksen and Keith David. Mass Effect for the PC has not yet been rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

"Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC."

That is good to hear, as a simple port to pc won't work for any fps or over the shoulder shooter

It looks like I'm going to need to upgrade the final part of my PC, the aging 3dcard. I mean I have to view these hot graphics at max everything! I am starting to feel that my X850XT Platinum is starting to have troubles with some games.

I hope the game is as good as I think it will be, because if this is even close to what I think it will be it will be the best game ever released. It has all the potential in the world given Will Wright's track record, I'm not to worried about this at all.
