Article mirror TF2 - Jurassic Park, Muldoon vs Raptors
After a long time trying to figure out how the Faceposer tool by Valve actually works and also why it doesn't work as well on TF2. I am missing animation thumbnails and play buttons, which could of course be a setup fault of mine. If it is then I said nothing :D
Anyway, I now finally made this machinima-short for a scene in Jurassic Park.
I still hate the way Faceposer works though (for TF2) and also the way the ingame tf_testvcd works, it is of course a lot better the using the old way (or so I read). But I've learned to live with it. I still would like the console command to have an extra option to input the target name of the player/bot who has to play the scene. Currently you have to point at the player/bot you want to use for the scene.
Can you imaging the annoyance I had with this particular scene where only two bots had to play a scene simultaniously to get the audio sync correct, imagin going over that quite low number of bots…
To get the audio synchronized I made the sniper's scene dibiliratly 0.5 seconds out of sync with the audio. Then I used some fps shooting action, aiming at the bots, and starting the scene relative to the bot by using my mouse1 (bound to the sniper) and mouse2 (bound to the scout scene). This way all of the lipsync in the final video would be in sync with the audio.
Welcome to annoyance 101...
